It’s a murder mystery on the moon in this humorous and suspenseful space adventure from the author of Belly Up and Spy School. This is definitely a book I'd purchase as a gift.Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers As the book is a mystery, there are some topics that younger readers might not comprehend fully. I loved it and recommend this for readers 9 and older. This book isn’t exactly dystopian, and it leans towards the crime genre. Gibbs does a splendid job helping readers to relate to the character. It is very humorous, and there are many plot twists that could be followed. Although the setting of the story is very futuristic, Dash Gibson’s emotions are pretty similar to many teens amidst the pandemic. Space Case (Moon Base Alpha, Book 1) is an amazing book that keeps you entranced. There is nothing graphic, with no details about the murder, and there is nothing scary.

The reading level is pretty easy and the book is short. I recommend this book (and the series) to anyone in 4th grade or older. It also was entertaining to see how the MBA residents complained about food, housing, etc. The parallel to the game made the book even more fun. Space Case is highly entertaining, and I couldn't stop reading it. The story is similar to a popular game called Among Us, in which players must do tasks, imposters try to kill everyone, and crew members work to uncover the imposters. As he digs deeper, he makes friends, and uncovers a secret that could threaten Dash and the colony Following the evidence not only helps him solve the case, but Dash makes contact with alien life. Even though MBA Commander Nina says it was an accident, Dash is convinced it was murder. He was trapped outside the colony without the proper equipment. His neighbors are bullies, and their son is a video game addict. The food is awful, he can't go outside, and space is limited. Diverse Easy Reader | Illustrated Chapterĭashiell "Dash" Gibson (12) lives on Moon Base Alpha (MBA), a lunar space station.
